1. What Cookies Are, and Why This Page Exists

A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your computer, tablet or phone when you visit it. It lets the site recognise your device the next time you load a page, which is how a website remembers things like the contents of a form you have half-filled, or the fact that you have already dismissed the cookie banner.

Cookies are not programs and they cannot run on your device or carry a virus. Most of them do something mundane and useful. A few of them, though, are used to build a picture of how you browse, and UK law treats those very differently from the ones that simply keep a website working.

The rules that apply here are the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, usually shortened to PECR, sitting alongside the UK GDPR. In short: cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to function can be set without asking you, and everything else needs your permission first.

This Cookies Policy covers falconfinance.uk only. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with personal information more broadly, including the details you give us when you make a mortgage or protection enquiry. Falcon Finance is a trading style of Momentum Financial Services Ltd (FCA 1011740), which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. This website is operated by Falcon Finance LTD, company number 16772244.

2. The Cookies This Website Uses

Strictly necessary cookies are the ones that make the site work at all. They handle page navigation, keep enquiry forms working and secure, remember your cookie choices so you are not asked on every page, and support basic security and fraud prevention. These are set automatically, because without them there would be nothing for you to consent to.

Performance and analytics cookies tell us how the site is actually being used: which pages people read, how they move between them, where they lose patience and leave, and whether anything is broken. This is genuinely how the site gets better over time. These only run if you agree to them.

Functionality cookies remember choices you have made, so the site behaves the way you left it rather than resetting each visit. Marketing cookies, where used, track browsing behaviour so that advertising can be made more relevant and its effectiveness measured. Both of these are optional and both wait for your consent.

Some cookies come from us directly. Others are set by services we rely on, such as Google Analytics, which we use to measure how the site is used, our image and performance tools, embedded maps or video, and our enquiry forms. Those providers handle the information they collect under their own privacy policies, and we have no control over how they write them.

3. Which Cookies Need Your Permission, and Which Do Not

The dividing line is simple. If a cookie is strictly necessary to deliver the service you asked for, in other words to make the website load and function, it can be set without asking. If it does anything else, including anything analytical or promotional, it needs your consent first and it must not run until you give it.

That is why the banner appears on your first visit. Until you make a choice, the optional cookies stay switched off. Choosing to decline them does not lock you out of anything: every page, every guide, every calculator and every enquiry form works exactly the same either way.

Consent has to be a positive action, so a pre-ticked box or continued scrolling does not count. It also has to be as easy to withdraw as it was to give, which is why the cookie settings can be reopened at any time rather than being a one-off decision you are stuck with.

We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles that are sold on, and we do not pass information gathered through cookies to third parties so they can market their own products to you. If you want the detail on what happens to personal information generally, that is set out in our Privacy Policy.

4. How Long Cookies Stay on Your Device

Session cookies last only as long as your visit. Close the browser and they are gone. These tend to be the ones handling security and form submission, where there is no reason to remember anything once you have finished.

Persistent cookies stay for a defined period, or until you delete them. The cookie that records your consent choice is a persistent one, for the obvious reason that asking you again on every page would be worse than useless. Analytics cookies are also typically persistent, so that a return visit is not counted as a brand new one.

Durations vary by provider and by purpose, from a few hours up to two years for the Google Analytics cookies (_ga and _ga_FR7DZL9BM0). If you want to know the exact lifespan of a specific cookie on this site, ask us and we will look it up for you rather than send you away to read someone else’s documentation.

Deleting cookies in your browser clears all of this immediately, including your consent record. If you do that, the banner will appear again on your next visit, which is expected behaviour and not a fault.

5. Managing and Withdrawing Your Consent

There are two places you can control this. The first is the cookie preferences on this website, which you can reopen at any time to change what you have agreed to. Turning something off there stops it immediately; you do not need to contact us or wait for anything to be processed.

The second is your own browser. Every major browser lets you block cookies, delete existing ones, and set rules for particular sites, and those settings apply everywhere rather than just here. The Information Commissioner’s Office publishes a plain-English guide to cookies for the public which is worth reading if you want to understand the wider picture.

Blocking cookies outright will affect how some websites behave, including this one. Enquiry forms in particular rely on strictly necessary cookies to submit safely, so if you block everything you may find a form will not send. Where that happens, the phone is the reliable alternative: 020 8242 1657.

Withdrawing consent stops future collection. It does not retrospectively erase data already gathered while consent was in place, though you can ask us about that separately using the rights set out in our Privacy Policy.

6. Changes to This Policy, and How to Contact Us

We may update this Cookies Policy from time to time, for example if we add or remove a service that sets cookies, or if the guidance from the regulator changes. Any update to the Cookies Policy is published on this page with a revised date, so it is always worth glancing at the date if you are checking back for a specific reason.

If you think a cookie is being set on this site that should not be, or that something described here does not match what you are seeing, please tell us. That is a genuinely useful report and we would rather hear it than not.

You can contact Falcon Finance by telephone on 020 8242 1657, by email at hello@falconfinance.uk, or through the form on our contact page. Our office hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with Saturday appointments by arrangement.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled a cookies or data protection question, please come to us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at any time, and doing so does not depend on raising it with us first.

If anything here is unclear, or you would rather talk it through than read it, read our privacy policy.

Elsewhere On The Site

If you arrived here from the cookie banner and want to know what we actually do, start with these.

Mortgage Guides

Longer reads on buying, remortgaging, buy to let and complex income.

Mortgage FAQs

Short answers to the questions we are asked most often.

Insurance and Protection

How life, critical illness, income protection and home cover fit around a mortgage.

First-Time Buyer Mortgages

Deposits, schemes and what lenders look for when you are buying your first home.

Changing Your Cookie Settings

Changing what you have agreed to takes about ten seconds. Here is the whole process.

Open Cookie Settings

Reopen the cookie preferences from the banner or the link in the site footer. Your current choices are shown as they stand, so you can see what is on before you change anything.

Choose What You Allow

Turn analytics, functionality or marketing cookies on or off individually. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be switched off here, because without them the site cannot load or submit a form.

Save Your Choice

Your decision takes effect straight away and is remembered on future visits. Nothing needs to be confirmed by us and there is no waiting period.

Clear Them Entirely

If you would rather start from scratch, delete cookies in your browser settings. That wipes your consent record too, so the banner will appear again next time you visit.

Cookies Policy: Frequently Asked Questions

What are cookies, in plain English?

A cookie is a small text file a website saves on your device so it can recognise that device on your next page or next visit. It is how a site remembers that you have already dismissed the cookie banner, or keeps an enquiry form working securely while you fill it in. Cookies are not programs, they cannot run on your device and they cannot carry a virus. Most of them do something entirely routine.

No. Only the strictly necessary cookies are set automatically, and those are the ones that make the site load, keep it secure and let enquiry forms submit. Everything else waits for your permission. If you decline the optional cookies, every page, guide, calculator and form on falconfinance.uk still works exactly as it does for anyone else. You lose nothing by saying no.

Reopen the cookie preferences from the banner or the link in the site footer and switch off whatever you no longer want. The change applies immediately and is remembered on future visits. You can also clear cookies through your own browser settings, which removes everything including your saved consent choice, so the banner will appear again on your next visit.

Only the strictly necessary ones. These handle page navigation, keep enquiry forms working and protected against abuse, support basic security and fraud prevention, and remember the cookie choice you have made so you are not asked again on every page. UK law allows these to be set without consent because the site cannot deliver what you asked for without them.

We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles that are sold on, and we do not pass information collected through cookies to third parties so that they can market their own products to you. Where any marketing or measurement cookie is used at all, it is optional, it is listed in the cookie settings, and it does not run unless you have actively agreed to it.

Session cookies disappear when you close your browser. Persistent cookies last for a set period, from a few hours up to two years for the Google Analytics cookies (_ga and _ga_FR7DZL9BM0), or until you delete them. Your consent record is deliberately persistent, because otherwise you would be asked again on every single page. If you want the exact lifespan of a particular cookie, ask us and we will check it for you.

Most of the site will still display, but anything that depends on a strictly necessary cookie may stop working properly, and enquiry forms are the most likely thing to fail because they rely on one to submit safely. If a form will not send, that is usually why. Calling us on 020 8242 1657 gets you to the same place, and often faster.

Contact Falcon Finance first, by phone on 020 8242 1657 or by email at hello@falconfinance.uk, so that we have the chance to look into it and put it right. If you are still not satisfied, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK’s independent regulator for data protection and electronic privacy. Coming to us first is not a condition of going to the ICO.
